Weekend Time-Sink

MarsEditIcon128.jpgNeed a little something to read? Some software to play around with? I’ve got you covered.

MarsEdit 2: First off, some software. MarsEdit 2 is a great blogging app, especially for those who need or want to write posts without being connected to the Internet. It works with a number of popular blogging platforms, and version 2 brings a host of new features and tweaks. And you know what? I’m using it to write this post.

MailTags: More software! This time, it’s a tagging plugin for Apple’s Mail.app. At $30, the price is a bit steep, but if you’re converting from Gmail to Mail.app, it’s nice to have the ability to tag your stuff. I’m wondering why this functionality isn’t in the Leopard edition of Mail.app.

35 Absolutely Essential Mac Apps: More software and a great blog. Freelance Switch is one of my favorites, and I can personally recommend (almost) every app on this list. Although, I’d suggest the aforementioned MarsEdit over Ecto, but that’s just me.

Wordpress 2.2.3: More software. I’ll be upgrading to this latest version tomorrow.

Why Facebook Is the Future: An article at Time Magazine. The cynic in me believes that Facebook will soon be a giant advertising platform. The idealist in me believes that Facebook will never go the route of MySpace.

The Price Cut Heard Round the World: Another article. John Gruber gives a no-nonsense look at Apple’s sudden $200 iPhone price drop.

That ought to keep you busy.
